About Miraver Jewelry
One of the few constants in my life has been my love of travel, languages, cultures, archeology and history. Since childhood, I have lived in more
than a dozen countries across the globe, traveling in a hundred-plus others,
always appreciating the fascinating variety of people and their ways of
expression, not the least of which is their jewelry.
Like many others, I have always prized gemstones, the myriad forms and colors of crystals and the embodiment of long-gone, extinct life-forms that are fossils. The mineralization or opalization process often transforms fossils into gems in their own right. I worked with glass because it seemed to me like a liquid form of crystals that could be shaped and colored and mixed to the very limits of one's imagination.
Metals, however, remain my true passion - malleable, ductile, flexible and robust enough to withstand the forces that shatter glass, crystals and gemstones. Forging and shaping metal both allows and forces the craftsman/artist to work in a more forceful and creative manner. Transforming a piece of raw metal into a piece of jewelry is a deeply satisfying experience.
I have discovered that making jewelry is the best way for me to share this
pleasure with others. I greatly enjoy the pieces I make for myself but this
rises to a higher level when someone else responds strongly enough to want
to own some of my work. I've met many interesting people through jewelry
both as a buyer and as a seller. I look forward to communicating with many
more through this on-line venture so don't hesitate to contact me if you
have any questions or ideas.
My work is of my own design but it's impossible to avoid the influence of all the things one sees in life - more so when I have spent so much of my life in extensive travel. I am always happy to consider individual projects based on customer's ideas also - please contact me with your concept and I will see if it is something I can do. (Please see the Custom page.)
